Demon Days

Feel good movie of the year.

OLDBOY is being remade here by Justin Lin, the director of BETTER LUCK TOMORROW. It's gonna suck. That's old news. Now what I'm really interested in is this Bollywood remake. Can you imagine the dance choreography for the hallway fight scene? I can. And it's absolutely hilarious. I cannot wait.

Attendance was low for Movie Night #2, but I guess it couldn't be helped. It's your loss. Tell them what they missed out on, Pablo.

"Huuuung~ It was so fun candies."

Happy early Halloween, you primitive screwheads.

Move Night #2

To celebrate Halloween, I wanted to show a really scary movie. Alas, I couldn't find anything worth showing. So I've decided to nix the scary movie idea and go with a double-header of horror comedy. Why two movies? Well I couldn't show one without the other, could I?

  • What: Double screening of EVIL DEAD 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS.
  • What are they about: Several teens visit a broken-down cottage in the woods -- miles from civilization -- find a copy of the Book of the Dead, and unleash supernatural powers that gut every character in sight. All, that is, except Ash, who takes this very personally and spends much of the film getting his head smashed while battling the unseen forces. (Rated R for violence, blood, gore, language, and boobies.)
  • Wait, what about EVIL DEAD 1: You don't have to see the first film to understand these sequels. EVIL DEAD 2 is pretty much a remake of the first one anyway (with better budget). And yes, ARMY OF DARKNESS is part 3.
  • Where: Here.
  • When: Saturday, October 29, 2005. 8:00pm SHARP. Remember, we're watching two movies (about 85 minutes each, you do the math).
  • Who: Anyone and everyone. Spread the word.

Ninja Loot

Those guys at Best Buy are pretty damn smart. They get you to work for them, thinking you're making pretty good money. Then they entice you with all these goodies that they have in their store as you "work" and make you buy them. So your Best Buy paycheck goes straight back to Best Buy. Those crafty bastards.

I got:

the Limited Edition, thank you very much; and more importantly:

the Deluxe Edition (duh -- never settle for less). I'm going through the special features right now. The cover is so cool. Almost as cool as the cover for the new uncut edition of Saw (the blood moves).

I Blame Shyamalan

High Tension was at the top of my list for the next Movie Night feature, but now that I've seen it I'm gonna have to find another movie. Most of the movie was actually really good and tense (ahem) but that stupid twist ending kinda ruined it. Of course I won't spoil it here -- it's not hard to figure it out if you're paying attention, it's just that the twist itself doesn't make too much sense. I kept thinking, "it can't be that, it can't be that." And it was.

I lost my keys. I think I left it at church yesterday. If anyone has them, or saw them lying around somewhere, let me know ASAP.

Work Actually

They called me to fill in for someone tomorrow. 2:30 - 9:30pm. Gahhhhh why did I pick up the phone? And why did I say yes?!

I aim to misbehave

I cannot believe the Angels lost that way. And the jerk that struck out actually had the audacity to say that it was a good call by the umpire. He probably cheated on his SATs.

Jin spoke English. In Hurley's dream. I TOLD YA SO!

Serenity totally reeked of awesomeness, but only for those that have seen the complete Firefly series. Jeon-san and I watched them all in two day marathon sessions, like the geeks that we are. Too bad it's flopping at the box office, rendering the chances for sequels nonexistant. Boo.

I'm off work for the rest of the week. And Friday is payday. Life is good.

Except I still don't have my shirt. Think they'll take the hint if I show up to work topless next week?

No one deserves that.

and like a saiyan I won't grow unless I'm battered in the fray

Mr. Monster

Best Buy still hasn't given me the blue shirt. Stop segregating me! There was a storewide meeting this morning at 7:30am. Each department met with their employees to go over the holiday season expectations and junk. Nothing I haven't heard before. I worked at Toys R Us several Christmases ago, remember? If I can handle that, I can handle anything.

Movie Night went well. Over half of the people were late (as expected/predicted) so we restarted the movie after about 40 minutes. The guys who actually came on time had to watch the first third of movie twice. The movie was received the way I expected; some guys liked it, some guys didn't, some were traumatized, everyone was disgusted. Hah. I'm definitely planning on having more of these -- probably one every two weeks or so, at least once a month -- so stay tuned. I hope I didn't scare people off with Oldboy. I'll show some "happy" movies too.

Movie Night #1

For the very first Movie Night, I decided to go with my favorite movie at the moment. A lot of people I know have seen it by now, but it deserves to be seen more. Some will love it. Some will hate it. That's a sign of a great movie. I think.

  • What: Screening of OLDBOY.
  • What is it about: A man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a room for 15 years without explanation. He is then released, and seeks to find out who imprisoned him, and more importantly, why. (Korea, 120 min. Rated R for strong violence including scenes of torture, sexuality and pervasive language.)
  • Where: The new Cho residence.
  • When: Saturday, October 8th, 2005. 8:00pm (since I'm only expecting Koreans to show up, the movie will probably start at 9:00pm).
  • Who: Anyone is welcome, as long as you're 17 and over.
  • How: Drive your damn car. Or carpool. Or walk. My place is very close to church.

Do Not Move

Aside from few miscellaneous items and boxes lying around my new room, I'm pretty much done moving in. It went smoothly thanks to Dij, Dooj, Mike Suh, Keisuke, Pablo, and his friend David. It's nice having my posters up again. I like having the computer so close to my bed -- I practically have no need for a chair, and I can fall asleep listening to mp3s on my headphones.

Now that I'm at a more "comfortable" place, I will be holding Movie Nights here periodically, showcasing cool movies that people may have not seen or heard of. Or just flicks that I like, no matter what people think. First one will be this Saturday. Stay tuned for more info.

This week I'm working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Three of those days are 8-hour shifts. I hope my body can handle it.

I'm gonna smile and not get worried
I try but it shows
