Sweeps

Since I have no TV, I have to download stuff I want to see off the Internet, so I'm always playing ketchup, err catch-up. Anyway, I finally saw the season finales for:

LOST:
Two hours. No answers. The worst part is that I'm gonna have to wait 3-4 months to find out what happenens next. Or what doesn't happen. And Claire has now officially become the most annoying character on the show. All she does is cry, scream, and bitch.

CSI:
I don't normally watch this show. I've seen maybe 5 episodes of reruns on SpikeTV (back when I had TV), and that was only because it was on before wrestling. But I liked what I saw. When I heard Quentin Tarantino directed the season finale, I knew I had to see it. Well it was very good, as I had expected. He should do more TV. I liked the dream sequence and the Dukes of Hazzard boardgame. Pure Tarantino. It's interesting to note that the season finales of both CSI and LOST had people, uh, exploding.

SCHOOL RUMBLE:
It's anime, but it is (Japanese) TV so it fits here. The best fansub group (WF) for this series has been seriously lagging as of late, so I had to grab the final 5 episodes from another group (SHRIMP). Their quality wasn't as good as WF's, but that was expected. All the fansub drama aside, the point is I finally watched the final episodes of the season, and they were good. Much like LOST, nothing really gets resolved in the finale, but SCHOOL RUMBLE is a comedy so it wasn't as bad. Plus I can always read the manga if I really want to find out what happens. I don't have that luxury with LOST.

What Ever Happened

Disastrous weekend.

I wanna be forgotten
And I don't wanna be reminded
You say, "please don't make this harder."
No, I won't yet

I wanna be beside her
She wanna be admired
You say, "please don't make this harder."
No, I won't yet

Oh dear, is it really all true?
Did they offend us and they want it to sound new?
Top ten ideas for countdown shows
Whose culture is this and does anybody know?
I wait and tell myself "life ain't chess"
But no one comes in
And yes, you're alone

You don't miss me
I know

Oh Tennessee, what did you write?
I come together in the middle of the night
Oh that's an ending that I can't write
'Cause I've got you to let me down

I wanna be forgotten
And I don't wanna be reminded
You say, "please don't make this harder."
No, I won't yet

I wanna be beside her
She wanna be admired
I say, "please don't make this harder."
No, I won't yet

"You're breaking my heart."

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!1111one

Went to Hell. A. twice this week. Tuesday for the Gorillaz toy release at Third Street. Wednesday for the North Korean documentary, SEOUL TRAIN. I also got to visit the kids at UCLA. I only managed to see the dorms, but it was nice. Except for the urine-drenched elevator.

The doc was really good, although I wanted it to be longer. Seeing something like that really puts things into perspective. No matter how much you think your life sucks, YOU HAVE NO EFFIN' IDEA HOW GOOD YOU HAVE IT HERE. I was especially keen on "the Asian Schindler" segment. Go check out the movie if you can.

Danny the Dog

After tinkering with it for most of the day, I finally figured out just what the hell is up with my computer: the connecter that links the power supply to the motherboard is fried. Some of you may have no idea what the eff I'm talking about, but I'm sure all of you should know that something in the computer being "fried" can't be good. The bad news is, I have to get a new power supply and motherboard. The good news is, they're both under warranty and I may be able to get them replaced. The other bad news is, I don't have the receipts. So I'll be without my computer for awhile. It's a good thing I have this laptop from church, or I would have been screwed.

I enjoyed UNLEASHED, the new Jet Li flick. The fight scenes were brutal and kickass, and the drama was a nice change of pace for Li to show his acting skills, working with freshly crowned Oscar winner Morgan Freeman. Best non-Hong Kong Jet Li movie, ever. See Solo? I knew I shouldn't trust you with movie reviews.

Braveheart

I decided not to go to work today. I also decided not to work there, ever. Goodbye, Century Theaters. I hardly knew ye.

Peace

All these problems
On my mind
Make it hard
For me to think
There is no way
I can stop
My poor brain
Is gonna pop

And I don't have a purpose
Scattered on the surface
I need to find some peace

Rivers, if you weren't so damn weird and if I weren't so straight, I'd marry you.

Just came back from watching CRASH. Interesting movie. I would like to tell you to stay tuned for a review, but I'm way behind on other reviews that I was supposed to write weeks ago. So no promises.

VBS. I would like to help, but...

We are All on Drugs

"3:50."
Huh?
"Four for 3:50."
Uhm... what movie?
"A... mighty... whore?"

I would love to give you tickets to A MIGHTY WHORE but we just sold out of those. Would you like to see THE AMITYVILLE HORROR instead?

I saw Mr. Shim today at work. He came to see KINGDOM OF HEAVEN by his lonesome. He said it was good. So random.

I keep forgetting I have the new Weezer CD on my computer. I downloaded it like all poor kids couple of weeks ago, but I haven't given a serious listen to it. Then I read on Johny's xanga that he bought it, and was like, "What the eff. Why haven't I listened to it? It's all World of Warcraft's fault." Anyway, I'm finally listening to it, and it's good. It's hella good. Whatever makes me say "hella" has to be good. Or gay. But it's not. Gay, I mean. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Learning to Breathe

Hello, good morning, how you do?
What makes your rising sun so new?
I could use a fresh beginning too
All of my regrets are nothing new

It's a new day. It also happens to be Monday. Eff you, Monday.

Gracie's back from England. She got me a cool shirt. I just wish it wasn't... purple?!

Spring semester is over. I aced both of my finals, therefore aced both classes. I have a few things to tend to now that I have a little more free time:
  • Find an apartment with Adrian. It hasn't been going well so far.
  • Try to find a new job. I don't make nearly as much money as I need with my current one.
  • Read. You know, like, books? Let's start with the bible.
Story of my life.

State of the Union

Holy bejesus that latest episode of NARUTO kicked ass.

I haven't taken a shower since Tuesday. Is that why my hair/scalp is itching?

It's amazing how many people go see movies they know nothing about. Case in point:

"What's SIN CITY?"
Well, it's based on a comic book...
"Ahh screw that. Hmm, how about KUNG FU HUSTLE?"
Well, it's a kung fu flick (duh). It has some crazy stuff, like THE MATRIX, but a lot better. And it's really funny. It's almost like a cartoon.
"What? It's a cartoon?!"
No no, it's like a cartoon. It's over the top.
"Oh I see. Alright, I'll take one ticket."
That'll be 6.75.
(He hands me his credit card.)
Can I see your ID?
(He places his driver's license upside down on the glass window.)
Uhh, can you turn it?
(He turns it right and slams it on the window.)
"Hah! That's my kung fu right there!"
...

Then there are people who can't get the movie titles right. It's BEAUTY SHOP, not BARBER SHOP. It's HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, not HITCH TO SPACE. And then...

"One senior for THE INTERCEPTOR please."

I didn't have the heart to correct her.

Wednesday, May 04, 2005

I've told you this before, haven't I?

"Three for the 11:30 show of THE INTERPRETER please."
(I look at the time. It's 12:45.)
Uhm. Did you say the 11:30 show?
"Yes."
You sure?
"We're on a lunch break."

I'm temporarily happy at the moment because I just aced my Contemporary Cinema final. I'm also happy because the professor showed MEMENTO before the final. I love that movie. I dare you to write a more clever script. Do it. Pop the trunk.

Guy Pearce needs to be in more movies. He could've been a good Batman, methinks.
