Oh the joy.

I just got an X-Box (with 2 free games: Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT 2002) and Splinter Cell.
I'm gonna go and open them now.

My belt broke.

It actually broke in half.
How the heck does that happen?

"Aww. Shut up boy."

'Twas a long day.

It began at 11.
We played a basketball game between the small groups: Kim JDSN's group (us) vs. Jason's group (freshmen).
I dunno what it was, but the game turned really physical and emotions ran high, especially near the end. It was ironic since we actually prayed before the game so that those things wouldn't happen. The game was really close, but we edged out and won, 21 to 20.

After that, it was time for praise practice for the revival. (1 pm)
It was good, as it always is, but this time we showed signs of fatigue. Dustin was tired since he had just come back from San Diego. Dooj, Adrian, and I were tired from basketball. Laura and Jenny had small group right before practice. We still got a lot done. "If There's One Thing" sounds really good.

We ate dinner at IHOP.
Steak and eggs, as always.

Then we headed to Adrian's house and watched the new extended version of The Fellowship of the Ring. It's so good. I can't believe they deleted those scenes. They're important. Especially the gift-giving scene. Stupid studio-heads. They made Peter Jackson cut the scenes for length. Hello? Remember Titanic? That movie was how long? And it made how much money? And won how many Oscars?
Morons.

The Good: Better day at work.

The Bad: Missed small group due to sleep. I zonked out after I got home from work.

The Ugly: It's only Wednesday.
Dijonnaise: Actually, I've been doing #3. That's just my style. It ain't really popular though. I wonder why.

More Dreams

I was a hobbit.
Frodo and I were stranded on a boat that was sinking fast.
Frodo was going crazy because he couldn't find Sally (Dooj's guitar).
I found it, then we both got out and swam to shore.
I rode some waves on Sally (with the case).

I remember feeling bad for the dwarves on the boat.
They stayed on the boat and died.
Ahh... those noble dwarves.
ingenious
ways to make one's week better:
1. sleep through the whole bastard (not recommended)
2. find one thing that brings you insane amusement and think of it every 5-10 minutes (works best with simple-minded folks such as i)
3. scowl at everyone and everything in sight (this should make you feel stupid, therefore inducing laughter at one's self)
4. i would tell you but i just realized how late it is and how sleepy i am. gnite.

"Why is everyone so hot for this girl? Has she got beer-flavored nipples?"

I've given myself a time limit.
If nothing "happens" by the end of the year, then it's over.
The end.
Fin.
Move on.

That gives me about 40 days.

If all goes well, that's cool.
If not, I can start the new year with a fresh start.

Nightmare on Artesia Street

Nightmare 1: Little Erin became Samara, that girl from The Ring. She even did the creepy walk.

Nightmare 2: I got to work about an hour late, and Christie got really mad at me. It was scary. She was still hot though.

"Steve! Pass it out! Forget it."

We played some fierce basketball today at Sa Rang.

We lost every game. :(

Adrian = Van Horn. You so crazy boy.

Dooj = Van Exel. You got some sweet leaners.

Jason = Iverson. So fast. Crazy shots.

Steve = Shaq's body + Mark's shots. Please play like you're SUPPOSED to. And stop hurting people. Especially your OWN TEAMMATES. You almost broke Adrian's friggin' nose.

Boner = uhhh... Robert Horry? I made some lucky shots.
lol . . . HAHAHAHA . . .. "it's getting pretty crazy in here"

hahaha . . .John you get credit. Daniel was able to get some open drives to the basket because of you. It makes me laugh when I think of the amount of picks you set. You did pull a Mark at times though.

Boy you crazy, you hit the game winner!

(Jumps up and does the FANTA Dance!)

^_^

The old men do have a good team. For some reason, I have a feeling we will still win. Maybe it is JDSN, the terminator.

Maybe it is the desperation I play with knowing that Todai is on the line.

Regardless, we must win.
I get no credit for all those picks. *sigh*
Why why WHY? *pulling out hair*

"You gonna give me this? Huh?"

Our DSL went down yesterday.
I called them today and found out that, for some idiotic reason, they switched it back to my old number in Anaheim.
Why? WHY?!
So the guy fixed it. He was nice.

***

We had our small group last night.
It's been about 3 weeks since I attended small group. I missed one week 'cause that was the "bad week" and another one 'cause it was cancelled due to Kim JDSN having to go to the marriage retreat.
It felt good, getting back to the Word again. Although, we ended up talking about basketball for most of the time. Now that Seungwoo has started coming out, it's gonna be basketball, basketball, basketball.

Which reminds me...

***

Our small group is going to play the "old men" for Todai.
The "old men" consist of: Kareem JDSN, Surfer Jon, Marky Mark, John JDSN, Donny JDSN, Sung Sung Fung, and Jason.
According to Kim JDSN, they've been talking trash and "underestimating" us.
Well they have a good team, I think. But we still have a chance, as long as they have Mark.

Ahem.

***

So we played a couple of games after bible study.
We played 3 on 3: Kim JDSN, Seungwoo, and Ruben against Adrian, John, and me.

Totally unfair.

They won the first game, although we led most of the time, they came back at the end.
The second game had a very similar pattern. We were leading 7-5, then they came back and made it 7-9. We then turned it into 9-10. Then we got lucky and somehow won with the score of 11-10.
Adrian is crazy good. He's Van Horn.
John is... well, John. You gotta stop acting like Mark and put up "dumb" shots. Haha.

Eh??
The time is coming . . . .
Today's fortune cookie: "You will make a change for the better."

What is this madness?

"Our saucy bartender will entertain ya."

Today was actually a good day at work.
I work nights on Tuesdays. The atmosphere is a little more relaxed, and I like the workers that work that shift.
I like working nights more than afternoons, so I think I'll change my schedule to work nights.
Ohhh, that means I can work with Christie.
Sweeeeeet.

The servers at Islands complain about Asians a lot. Especially to me.
Y'see, they're poor tippers. Especially the teenagers.
And after all the bitching, they always say, "no offense."
Like I'm offended.

There's this server, Melissa.
She's funny. And outgoing.
And she has the exact same birthday as me, even the year.
We were pretty busy because it was Veteran's Day, and the poor girl worked hard all day.
So naturally she ended up bitching about Asians.
"No offense."
None taken.

Undignified

We had our very first practice for the "Undignified" revival yesterday.
I thought we sounded pretty good, especially Dooj's ARIA PRO. Ohhhhh.
Everyone's so good now, except me of course.
My guitar playing has been at the same level for like 5 years.
My Helga sounded horrible.
And the fact that it went out of tune after a minute of playing didn't help.
Playing with Doosuan's stuff was pretty cool, especially the delay.
The thing about the delay is, if I mess up on the guitar, it echoes that mistake over and over.

At least my strap is cool.

It's Ben Affleck in tights, but dammit, this trailer is awesome!

"This class sucks! And blows!"

There was a mix-up yesterday regarding whether we were having our third exam today in psychology. I thought we were only doing group activity, but Lisa, Solo, and Michelle thought we were taking the test.
Actually, it was both.

I emailed our professor around 5 last night to clear up the confusion, and he replied about 4 hours later.
These are his exact words:

Daniel,

We have a test tomorrow and mentioned how if you emailed me I could send you the study terms. If you look at your syllabus you will find that the test is scheduled for tomorrow. We are first doing the group activity followed by the test.

Flores

Friggin' bastard. Like he ever goes by the syllabus. He did not utter a single word about the exam last week.
Anyway, I ended up not studying at all, and mostly worked on my skateboard (see previous post).

It would be really funny if I got the highest score out of all of us.

***

I went to Guitar Center with Dooj. I needed to get new strings for my Fender, a strap, and a tuner. I haven't changed the strings since, well, ever. I've had Helga (name of my guitar) for about 2 years now, and it's been misused and ignored for about, oh, 2 years. Joining the worship team for the revival (Broken Movement) has finally given me a chance to use her!

Sweeeeeeeeet.

Anyway, we got all the stuff, and Dooj looked at few bass guitars that he's considering buying in the future. Wait 'till you see my new strap. Oh man it's awesome. It's the CRAJ.

Pic of the Day

From the Japanese version of The Ring.

"If you build it, they will come."

I built my skateboard today!

1. I got the deck at the convention on Sunday.
2. I ordered all the other parts - trucks, wheels, bearings, etc. on Monday night.
3. The package came today.
4. I started working on it around 5:30
5. I just got done, around 8:30.

It's butt ugly. But hey, it's my first real board. I love it.

Now I have to name it...

Spike?
Random Thought

So I'm sitting here in front of the computer, minding my own business, not really doing anything, when this thought strikes me.

Hands are weird.

Think about it. Look at your hands. Look at your palms, with unique... uh, creases. And those fingers! How did God come up with fingers?! These things that stick out of your hands, and they BEND! (except Adrian's) And even more flabbergasting is fingerprints! Everyone has unique fingerprints! That's just wild.

I don't think I should have taken both drixoral and echinacea.

When it comes to being mysterious, that's what you do best. You like to leave others puzzled and speak in riddles. You're not out there for the fame and fortune, you're just being yourself, doing what you do best. You're strong and courageous, and you're always the leader of the pack. You're skillful; people respect you, and you respect people.

"You're a sicko pervert."

I spent the whole weekend hanging out with my boys.

Friday

I went to the youth group praise & prayer night.
I'm always late for the EM praise & prayer (at 6:30), so I've been going to the youth group's.
Afterward, I spent the night at the Wayne Mansion Dooj's house.
I took my PS2, so we had fun playing NBA Live 2003 all night.

Saturday
Dooj had to go to church for praise practice at 10.
We woke up at 11.
After practice, we played some ping pong, then went to Hometown Buffet for Paul's birthday. It's weird that he bought us lunch for his own birthday. I mean, shouldn't we be buying for him?
We then had to go shopping for food for the CCC bonfire, then a few of us split up and went to look at cell phones. After about an hour, I learned that I had put down a $400 deposit to get Verizon. My credit's gone to the toilet. I told Adrian about it and he told me that's the same amout he had to put down to get a phone. We wept together.
We went to Huntington for the bonfire. 100 people were supposed to show up. I think about 40 actually came. It was freezing. And kinda boring. Most people hung out with their own cliques, and we weren't any different.
I had locked my keys inside my car in the morning at Dooj's house, so we went back and tried to get inside somehow. Dooj's whole family came out and tried to help. (note: Dooj's dad looks hilarious in his "pajamas") Nothing worked. Thankfully, Paul's family had AAA, so we called them to help us out. The AAA guy took awhile, but he finally got the door to open. (thanks Angela!)
We spent the rest of the night playing NBA Live (again).

Sunday

Jr. high praise isn't going too great... and it's all my fault. I need to take the time to be more prepared, in choosing songs, practicing them, and praying for the worship. I always end up doing everything at the last minute, and the results aren't pretty. I need to get back on track.
We "ditched" the EM service today to go to the snowboard/skate convention in Long Beach. Today was the last day, so we had to go. :)
I went to get a skateboard. Better late than never I guess.
We took Sam, the gangster fob that lives with Eric, since he was supposed to be a crazy expert at snowboards. He didn't say a single word the entire trip, I think.
It was slim pickings over there, especially for skateboards. I got a deck for $25. I also looked at the new carveboards, which are like skateboards with huge wheels, basically letting you do wicked carves and surf on the streets. The guy I talked to was really into it, and he got me really excited about the whole thing. They're kinda expensive though (around $300-400), so I'm gonna research them some more and see how it goes with skateboarding first.
Dooj and Paul got shoes. Eric ended up not getting anything since his card got declined. I guess all those Jamba Juice bets he lost finally caught up to him.
We came back to Dooj's house, had pizza, and guess what? Played NBA Live. :)

side note: Eric thinks he's cool and "underground" 'cause he knows Rufio. Pffffft. I'm sure he read about them in our Jukebox or something. I would be more impressed if he knew Fugazi or NOFX. Well now it doesn't really matter since he'll read this and pretend to know them too. :)

one more...

Finch - Post Script

I wish it didnt hurt, hurt like this
To say these things to you
I'll sacrifice
one moment
for one truth

If we get though tomorrow then we'll be fine
(Than we'll be fine)
We'll wait for, forever and see how close we get

It's just another day
One more chance to get this right
I'll sacrifice forever, please just for tonight

If we get though tomorrow then we'll be fine
(then we'll be fine)
We'll wait for forever and see how close we get
(WE GET!)

The worst is over for now
Take a breath, now let it out
The worst is over for now
Take a breath, now let it out
The worst is over for now
Take a breath, now let it out
The worst is over for now

Friday, November 01, 2002

It started with them, and it ends with them.
It's weird, 'cause I don't like them that much.

Anyway, this is the last song.
Music Week is officially over.

Dashboard Confessional - So Impossible

so she says:
everyone's going to the party
won't you come if I come
with a friend for your friend
I'd be so pleased to see you
out of the classroom
wearing the smile that I'll bring you
I was hoping to learn a few things like..
do you do you like dishing the dirt
on the whole class
talking the big smack
playing the fool
wearing all of the latest fashions
or bucking the new trends
wearing your old threads
or if you like coffee in the evening
these are a few things that I'd like to know
that I'd like to know

so I say:
I've been scheduled to work but I'll call in
and my friend isn't busy
he'd be happy to join me
and maybe my friend and your friend
will hit it off
or maybe we will
I'm dying to know
do you do you like dreaming of things
so impossible or only the practical
or ever the wild
or waiting through all your bad, bad days
just to end them with someone you care about
and do you like making out
and long drives and brown eyes
and guys that just don't quite fit in
yeah do you like them?
so yes, I'll see you there
I gotta post a couple of songs that remind me of her of course.

Phantom Planet - Always On My Mind

everybody in this place get up and move away
for all I care this town's already dead and empty
I'm told that I'm a victim of obsession
that's what my friends say
oh I'm a fool for having ever let her tempt me

well I turn pale when she walks by
I am lost in her eyes
she is always on my mind
she is always on my mind

she glances over but she keeps on walking down that street
all I can do is hope that she is thinking of me
if I could blink
if I could breathe
if I could get my legs to move
well this could be the day I get this girl to love me

she had turned from a sound
well I must have cried out loud
she is always on my mind
she is always on my mind
This is my favorite song for the moment. It kicks ass.

Audiovent - Underwater Silence

here in your coma
here in your sleep
you have lost yourself somehow
you cannot hear me
although I scream
I can't stand to see you cry

tonight...

you dream under lonely eyelids
find what you're looking for
you sleep in underwater silence
alone

here in your empty
there's no breeze
claustrophobic in your skin
refuse reflections
when they're from me
so in my eyes they will end

tonight...

you dream under lonely eyelids
find what you're looking for
you sleep in underwater silence
holding me down

tonight
you are emotionless
hold on
and on

keep me alive in you
just keep me alive in you
just keep me alive
